In 2024, the French capital will take on a distinctly gold medal-like shine when it becomes the host of the 33rd Summer Olympic Games. There’s a lot going on, and therefore a lot you’ll need to know to make the most of what promises to be a spectacular event. Here’s all the essential information on the Paris Olympics 2024, packed into one handy guide.

What dates are the Paris 2024 Olympics?

The Paris Summer Olympic Games takes place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The Paralympic Games takes place from August 28 to September 6.

How can I get tickets?

Official ballots for Paris 2024 tickets have already taken place, but don’t panic if you didn’t register for either or weren’t successful, as there will be more chances to buy tickets. The official Paris 2024 ticketing website says ‘Tickets for sessions will regularly be put on sale,’ with a maximum of four or six tickets available per person, depending on the sport.

Keep checking the Paris 2024 Olympic ticketing site to see what’s available.

How many times has Paris hosted the Olympics?

The 2024 Games will mark the third time that Paris has hosted the Olympics. The first was way back in 1900 and the second was in 1924 (when Paris became the first city to host two separate Olympics), which tees-up a very neat 100-year anniversary for the 2024 Games.

What’s the best way to get around Paris during the summer Games?

Public transport is by far the best way to navigate Paris during the Games. And with 16 lines serving over 300 stations, the city’s metro system in particular will be key for visitors.

Single metro tickets currently cost €2.10 each, although it’s been announced that the tickets will almost double in price during the Games. There’s the option to buy a rechargeable Navigo pass ‘preloaded’ with journeys at a slightly reduced cost (it’s currently priced at ten journeys for €22, but will cost €32 during the Games). You can also use the Navigo pass on some train, bus and tram lines.
