Exciting news is coming to Barcelona’s Old Port. By the summer of 2024, Time Out Market Barcelona will open its doors, showcasing the cream of the city’s culinary scene all under one roof.

There’s a vast array of food and drink options in Barcelona. From world-renowned high-end restaurants and cocktail bars to excellent, affordable tapas spots, our food scene is one of the big reasons why our city is a fantastic place to live and visit. And soon, the city’s finest foods will be found in one place: Time Out Market Barcelona.

From Catalan classics and rice dishes to haute cuisine, this gastronomic hub will also feature a comprehensive cultural program for locals, with fourteen kitchens, one full-service restaurant, and four bars (two indoor and two outdoor), all curated by Time Out’s local editorial team.

Here’s everything you need to know about the market.

What is Time Out Market?

Ever read one of Time Out’s guides, like ‘The best restaurants in Barcelona’ or ‘the best bars’?

Time Out Market was conceived from these lists. We aimed to bring our dining guides to life, and the result is a thrilling culinary journey for both locals and tourists.

The first Time Out Market was in Portugal: Time Out Market Lisbon opened in 2014 and has since become a fixture of the city.

Since then, we’ve opened markets in New York, Cape Town, Boston, Chicago, Dubai, Montreal, and, in May 2024, Porto. Now, it’s Barcelona’s turn.

When will Time Out Market Barcelona open?

The market is set to open in summer 2024, although an exact date is yet to be confirmed. We'll share the date as soon as it’s available.

Where is Time Out Market Barcelona located?

Time Out Market Barcelona will be situated at Port Vell (Barcelona’s historic port), specifically on the upper floors of the Maremagnum shopping centre. It will be directly accessible from the street via escalators and a lift.

The venue will cover an enormous 5,250 square meters and feature two terraces with views of the sea, the port, and the city.

What will you find at the Market?

The market will feature 14 kitchens, one full-service restaurant, and four bars (two indoors and two outdoors). Each kitchen has been meticulously selected by Time Out Barcelona’s editorial team, and all have received at least a four-star rating from our critics.

Offerings range from street food favourites to Michelin-starred dishes, all prepared by local chefs and restaurants.

Beyond the restaurants and bars, the space will also host events and live performances and include a podcast studio.

What will the experience be like?

You will dine at large communal tables designed to enable sampling from all 14 kitchens in a single meal, served with proper crockery and cutlery. Additionally, there will be a standalone restaurant with its own dedicated tables and service.

Which chefs and restaurants will be there?

Here are the chefs and venues we have announced so far. We’ll be updating this page frequently with each new announcement, so be sure to check back for more details!
